Origin

The “Club d’Esgrima Sant Cugat 2020” was born in 2020, in the middle of the Covid pandemic, with the name “Club d’Esgrima Barcelona” since it was founded in Barcelona but without a fixed facility to carry out its activity. When the Sant Cugat City Council and the Arnau Cadell Institute reached an agreement for the use of the gym and opened the possibility for the club to carry out its activity there, the founding group expanded to include other fencers from Sant Cugat and changed its headquarters and its name given the great sporting potential of Sant Cugat to develop the project.

The founding group is made up of Catalan fencers with some of the best sports curriculums in Catalan fencing, with two Olympic athletes and twenty individual Spanish Champion titles, all of them currently coaches. A large part of the group were students of the maestro Pierluigi Chicca, a three-time Olympic medalist, and they understand fencing in a similar way, focused on educational values and group work but always individually with each of the students.

Mission Vision Values

Our objective is to promote physical education through one of the most complete sport disciplines, since it develops sensory, psychomotor skills and, above all, sociomotor capacity. The way of working that we propose aims to build an optimal learning climate. We are aware that practising a sport is not only a way to fill free time or have fun, but also to participate in a school.

The implementation of the fencing technique that we offer is based on the natural learning of boys and girls.

We like to promote the individualized development of each athlete while valuing the work of the group.
